Ride the Reactor

Date: Saturday, October 7, 2017
Location: B Reactor National Historic Landmark at the Manhattan Project National Historical Park
Time: 8:00 a.m. - Check-in / Packet Pick-up, 9:30 a.m. - Ride Starts
Distance: 15-miles, participants may ride any length, either shorter or longer, at their discretion, as time permits. However, at no time will riders be allowed to deviate from designated route
Bike Type: Due to gravel and road conditions, mountain bike, cyclocross or "off road" bikes are highly recommended.
Cost: $60, proceeds will go to the Hanford Unit Fund and benefit the Hanford location of Manhattan Project National Historical Park

Join us on October 7, 2017 for a unique experience at the formerly top-secret B Reactor! With the inclusion of the Hanford B Reactor in the new Manhattan Project National Historical Park, more people than ever before have been able to experience this once secret and restricted area. The Department of Energy is once again providing access for 100 cyclists to take part in a variable distance ride mountain bike or cyclocross ride utilizing both gravel and paved roads beginning and ending at the B Reactor. The $60 registration fee includes the bike ride, catered lunch and a tour of the B Reactor; proceeds will be donated to the local non-profit organization supporting the Hanford Unit of the new Manhattan Project National Historical Park.  Donations will help provide education and access to the Park.

8:00 a.m. Check-in / Packet Pick-up at the Manhattan Project National Historical Park Hanford Visitor Center, located at 2000 Logston Blvd., Richland
8:30 a.m. Gates Open
9:30 a.m. Ride Starts
11:00 a.m. BBQ Begins
12:30 p.m.
 Course Closes
1:00 p.m. Presentations by Bike Tri-Cities & National Park Service
2:00 p.m. Event Concludes

Payment & Liability/Photo Release Forms: Visit TRI-CITIES is collecting the required liability/photo release forms and $60 registration fee.

Participant limit for this event is 100 riders. The event is first come, first served based on receipt of payment and liability/photo release forms.

Donation Information: The $60 registration fee is a non-refundable, tax-deductible donation to the Manhattan Project National Historical Park/ Hanford Unit Fund.

Refund Policy: Absolutely no refunds will be given.

All payment and liability/photo release forms must be completed and returned to the Visit TRI-CITIES Visitor Center by Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.
