Providing entertainment for the opening session from 10:00 AM till Noon are Mary Lou Gnozo and Steve Haberman. Entertainment has been scheduled for all 21 Fridays through-out the season. While most crops are about a week behind because of the cool spring, our recent hot weather is closing that gap fast and the first market session should be very satisfying to market goers. Local cherries are still about a week or 2 away but asparagus, peas, onions, lettuce, etc, etc should be available for sale. Beef, lamb, seafood, and fresh farm eggs will be at the market. Fresh baked breads and deserts will all be available. Plants, flowers, honey and special items such as emu oil, grape seed oil salad dressings, and other specialty items will be for sale. A number of local, talented artisan products will also be featured.
Open Mic at Ty's is a great opportunity for new and seasoned musicians. The environment is very relaxed, most people that attend are there to perform, many for the first time. I have a guitar set up for musicians to use if they don't bring their gear with them. Aside from the all acoustic Open Mic, we also have Karaoke going on at the same time. We basically switch back and forth between live sets, it's great fun for everyone! As a way of supporting budding local musicians in the area, we have a one hour time span where under 21 musicians can join the Open Mic, from 8-9pm. This is a fantastic way for those young performers to get on stage and let the world hear their music!
Great things are happening, we are moving to the Southridge Complex sharing the parking lot with the AVA Winery. We will rename the market from Kennewick Farmers Market to Southridge Farmers' Market-Kennewick.
