CATS, America's Favorite Family Musical, is Coming to the Mid-Columbia

Richland, Washington - March 13, 2015. The show that revolutionized musical theatre is coming to the Tri-Cities for six performances. Produced by Mid-Columbia Musical Theatre, this is a collaborative performance with Mid-Columbia Ballet featuring 28 singers, 22 dancers, and 34 tappers. Together with a fantastical oversized set, inspired choreography, and mischievous costumes, CATS is a brilliant song and dance spectacular not to be missed.

Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased at online at mcmt.tix.com or by phone at (509) 947-0562. Tickets may also be purchased in person in Richland at Adventures Underground in the Uptown Shopping Center and at the Tri-Cities Academy of Ballet and Music on Aaron Drive.

Based on T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, and with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, CATS is set at the annual reunion of the Jellicle cats at the Jellicle Ball. Old Deuteronomy, the wise and benevolent leader of the cats, makes the Jellicle choice and announces which of them will go up to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a new Jellicle life. Winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, CATS features 20 of Andrew Lloyd Webber's greatest melodies, including the popular hit "Memory."

CATS is a musical theatre phenomenon. Since its opening, it has been presented in over thirty countries and has been seen by over 73 million people. CATS is one of the longest running musicals in the history of British theatre, playing 21 years in its West End run. CATS is also one of the longest running musicals on Broadway at more than 18 years. Not to be overlooked is CATS' status as the longest continuously touring show in American theatre history. And now CATS is back! A revival production opened in London's West End in December of 2014. While no opening season has been set, Andrew Lloyd Webber stated earlier this year that CATS will have a Broadway revival.

MCMT's CATS performance dates are April 10, 11, 12 and April 17, 18, 19 at the Richland High School Auditorium. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30PM and Sunday matinees are at 2:00PM. Tickets are $10 for children 12 and under and students with ID, $18 for seniors 60 and up, and $20 for adults. High school and college students with student ID save 50% on Student Night - April 9 at 7:30 PM. This students-only performance is not open to the
general public.

Michael Paul Miller creates oil paintings that explore the sublime nature of existence through post--apocalyptic environments. However, while employing elements that suggest death, disaster and desolation, Miller does not abandon hope or beauty. Rather, he delicately balances the two extremes, allowing for open--ended inquiry into the human condition. As a result, the work often addresses a range of contemporary issues. The images contained in the paintings are sourced from multiple direct and indirect references, including observation, imagination, memory, subconscious thought, literature, film, and art history. The visual sources are conflated, recontextualized, altered, and translated into paint though a long studio process that often takes month to complete. Miller is moved by the power and versatility of oil paint and uses traditional techniques in creating his work. He uses a dark, rich, color palette for the subdued tones of the distressed atmosphere, which contrast sharply with the bright, often cautionary, colors that break through the darkness with alarming beauty. April 29 Artist Talk at 1pm followed by Closing Reception at 2pm Gallery Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8 AM-8:30 PM Friday, 8 AM-12 PM Saturday- Sunday, CLOSED

Performances are made possible through support of the PHS Choir Boosters Club. The play is directed by first-year PHS Drama teacher David Connolly.

This tale of betrayal, obsession, and redemption is based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas and adapted for the stage by Charles Morey.

Edmond Dantes acquires an enormous treasure while wrongfully imprisoned. Upon his escape, he travels disguised as the Count of Monte Cristo with plans to enact his revenge on those who betrayed him. The story explores themes of hope, justice, vengeance, mercy, and forgiveness.  The play contains stylized stage violence and sword play and is recommended for audiences 12 and older.

"My goal for my first year and first play at Pasco High School is to put on a great show on a dime," says Connolly. "There will be minimal sets and modern costumes with a steampunk theme. I want to put the emphasis on good actors telling a good story."

“Till the Wheels Fall Off” ain’t just an album title. It’s a way of life. And the Outlaw Carnie responsible for it ain’t no character. BOB WAYNE is 100% the real deal: a raucous, rambunctious, storytelling rabble-rouser with a passionate zeal for life and a reckless charm that is completely unbound. Conquering the interstates behind the wheel of his real-life ‘70s Cadillac limo while surrounded by a revolving gang of sweaty banjo bangers, fiddle scorchers and upright bass slappers, BOB WAYNE carries the torch for the Outlaw Country tradition with a modern punkabilly snarl all of his own. The rampaging troubadour has left a trail of devastated dive bars, broken hearts and one-night stands across the United States and Europe. BOB’s incredible catalog of home recordings, studio outings and zip-lock-baggied CDs sold from his trunk have all finally culminated into a pair of landmark releases with People Like You Records that encapsulate and capture just what his life’s work has been about. There’s no better place to hear BOB than the road, but the Nashville based country singer’s “Outlaw Carnie” and newest collection of tunes, “Till the Wheels Fall Off”, come a close second. BOB writes songs that paint vivid pictures of real life, with an overall atmosphere befitting the rowdy carnival ride conjured in his presentation.

Recorded by Fowler at Oceanway Studios and Hillywood Studios in Nashville — and featuring such accomplished guest musicians as guitarists Bryan Sutton (Johnny Cash, Eric Church, Alison Krauss) and Tom Bukovac (Bob Seger, The Beach Boys, Garth Brooks) — the album is built on both tight musicianship and an earthy, sometimes irreverent honesty.

Tri-Cities Prep High School presents a world premiere musical exploring Ireland's tragic rebel history scored with traditional Irish music. ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT TRI-CITIES PREP PERFORMING ARTS "This is Ireland." -Grace Gifford, Act One Scene 1 "Summon your strength, boys. For tomorrow we are messengers." -Patrick Pearse, Act One Scene 8 The all-new musical GUNS OF IRELAND tells the story of two hauntingly similar rebellions, the Wexford Rebellion of 1798 and the Easter Rising of 1916. On one side, the reluctant but brilliant general Father John Murphy leads his friends and allies against a British Empire still aching from a defeat in the Americas. On the other, the poet Joseph Plunkett casts his lot with a group of rebels against the wishes of his childhood sweetheart, Grace Gifford. Both rebellions are doomed to fail, but not before the British are forced to learn a hard lesson about the indomitability of the Irish people. Featuring a musical score that will make you laugh, cry, clap your hands and stamp your feet, GUNS OF IRELAND pays respect to the relentless courage and unquenchable joy that is uniquely Irish. Over the course of the show you will enjoy time-honored favorites such as "Danny Boy" and "Whiskey in the Jar," as well as powerful traditional songs like "The Parting Glass" and "The West's Awake." GUNS OF IRELAND also features a brand-new song, "Statue of Me," which was composed and written by Nina Powers and Jeff Payne, and which pays homage to the unsung heroes of history: the Irish women, mothers, sisters, and daughters who were all too often left behind to carry on in the wake of tragedy. At once thematically universal and intimately local, GUNS OF IRELAND represents a theatrical experience that is a first of its kind. It was written and produced in Tri-Cities, WA, and has benefited from the contributions of Tri-Cities Prep School, Columbia Basin College, The Tri-City Herald, Red Lion Hotels, and many, many more. Beautiful, heartrending, hopeful and tragic, GUNS OF IRELAND celebrates the universal bonds of friendship, the agony of lost love, and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of overwhelming odds.

Mark your calendars now to enjoy a rich day with one of Edgar Cayce's ancient mysteries experts-the popular teacher John Van Auken. Learn about your soul's ancient experiences and how these past lives affect your present talents, relationships, circumstances, and, of course, your karma (good and bad). John brings a wealth of information, insight, and amazing slides that reveal the effects of reincarnation from ancient soul experiences in Atlantis, Lemuria, and Egypt-even in starry realms beyond Earth! His storytelling skills are now legendary, as he has been sharing tales of ancient peoples for nearly 40 years. You'll take a journey into your soul's earliest experiences, when we were "the Morning Stars that sang together" as we descended from heavenly realms into this physical world and physical bodies. Learn how to awaken to your deeper, immortal self and once again enjoy heavenly energies in this present, purposeful incarnation. Your soul sought to enter this present life, now take it to see a visual journey through its classical sojourns.

During this day you'll see images and hear details about:
Edgar Cayce's Ancient World and People
Atlantis, Lemuria, Egypt, the Mayan World, India, and more
Ancient Mysticism and Methods of Enlightenment
How Your Soul has Journeyed through Many Dimensions
Your Star Traveler Self and Its Mission and Destiny
Relationships that have Carried Over into this Life
John will show some of the rarest images from Egypt, the Mayan Cosmos, and ancient India. John will present mind-expanding concepts from the amazing Edgar Cayce visions of our celestial nature now living temporarily in this terrestrial world. And from his latest book, Edgar Cayce's Tales of Ancient Egypt (with over 80 illustrations, he'll tell marvelous stories of those times and peoples, and how these tales relate to us and our lives today.

"It is through meditation that we may become aware of the existence of the spiritual forces within; that we unlock the door between our physical and spiritual bodies. Through this door come impulses from the soul, seeking expression in the physical . . . The soul is always present, always willing to express its true purpose, its true relationship with the Creator. Through meditation we make this possible; we open the way. Some say that we are not conscious of possessing a soul. We should know that each of us is a soul . . . "
Edgar Cayce, "Meditation" chapter, A Search for God
PAST ATTENDEES SAY:

"He really speaks with wisdom. It's a joy to hear his message."

"Great presentation-enlightening and stimulating."

"John really knows how to connect with his audience."

Historians, scholars, and theologians agree that first-century Christianity was a sect of Judaism, but where does that information place first-century Gentile Christians? What did it mean to be a Gentile who practiced Judaism in the days of the apostles?

These are not just academic questions; they are at the heart of today's growing Messianic Jewish movement. How do non-Jews engage in the modern Messianic Jewish revival?

Toby Janicki marshalls the latest scholarship on late Second-Temple-era Judaism and early Christianity to introduce his readers to the first Gentile disciples of Yeshua, a class of people called God-fearers. He brings solid answers for non-Jews seeking to practice the Jewish roots of their faith.

Many Gentile believers today are searching out what it means to walk out a life of discipleship as practiced by the first disciples in Acts. The only way to successfully accomplish this is to return to the Jewish roots of their faith and realize their role as grafted-in members of the commonwealth of Israel. When Gentiles partner together with the Jewish people and walk in obedience to the Torah as it was meant for the nations, the kingdom of heaven is brought ever nearer in anticipation of Messiah's second coming.

Piano-led Funky Rock Band with extended psychedelic jams, classic-sounding originals, and amazing re-worked covers. Prolific Keyboardist/Producer Asher Fulero (Everyone Orchestra, Scott Law, Halo Refuser, Floydian Slips, Crystal Bowersox, Surrounded By Ninjas, Scott Pemberton, Shimshai, Jah Levi) is an all-around hero of studio and stage on the west coast and beyond for the last 10+ years. His exciting new project is an energetic, funky rockin’ jam-band of the highest caliber, playing a solid mix of catchy and imaginative original vocal songs, exploratory psychedelic fusion instrumental originals, and the occasional cover of a favorite classic. Songs by Pink Floyd, Phish, Steely Dan, or Peter Gabriel might appear amidst a Funky Meters or Grant Green jam, all re-worked live within the band's fun, open-format, improvisatory setting and jet-powered by Fulero's inspired flights of extreme piano technique and the band's shared interest in the space where tight songs meet group improvisation.
