Recreation

In the Tri-Cities, visitors will find outdoor adventures for all ages. The confluence of the Snake, Yakima and Columbia Rivers has produced an aquatic playground second to none. The area's inviting waterways beckon water lovers from all over the region who enjoy sailing, power and pleasure boating, wakeboarding, swimming, windsurfing, and much more. Golfing, fishing and sightseeing are all popular activities to try during your stay.

Recreational facilities abound with seven riverfront parks and 67 miles of paved pedestrian and bike trails. In fact, the Tri-Cities area offers 16.7 miles of paved bike trails per 100,000 people - nearly three times the amount of other metropolitan areas in the state.

Escape civilization on a jetboat tour of the Hanford Reach where you will see the majestic White Bluffs, remnants of old town sites and plentiful wildlife. Step onto a relaxing river cruise where you will have an amazing view of a brilliant Tri-Cities sunset or spend the day floating the river.

Riverfront parks in all three cities offer a chance for relaxed family outings, warm weather fun and a personal view of breathtaking sunsets on the peaceful Columbia River. There are 21 recreational parks in the Tri-Cities area and several trails within the region. The 22 mile Sacagawea Heritage Trail boasts sections ideal for mountain biking, roller blading, walking or jogging. The trail is also perfect for viewing the multitude of birds that inhabit the Columbia Basin.

If you're a sports maniac, head out to a Class A minor league baseball game, Western Hockey League hockey game or a National Indoor Football League game.

Bike Map CoverThe Tri-City Dust Devils play at Gesa Stadium in Pasco. The Dust Devils' games have been a fun Tri-Cities sporting event for the whole family for more than a decade! In addition to being entertaining, evening games are a perfect way to enjoy the Tri-Cities' relaxing summertime weather.

Winter is the time to head inside the Toyota Center to watch the Tri-City Americans hockey team skate across the ice. The Americans, a Tri-Cities team since 1988, draws sell-out crowds because of their great plays and huge wins! The Americans' regular season runs from September to March.

The Tri-Cities Fever indoor football team is new to the Tri-Cities in 2005. Their season runs from March to June and is an exciting addition to the local sports scene. Games are played at the Toyota Center.

If you plan on being in the Tri-Cities the last full weekend of July, don't miss the Tri-Cities Water Follies. Hydroplanes racing at 200 miles per hour, overhead aerial demonstrations, and plenty of entertainment on land, make the Columbia Cup the largest weekend event in Eastern Washington!
