Cocktail Party Culinary Journey: Cooking Class Experience
December 13, 6:00pm
Join us on a culinary experience as we ring in the holidays with a cocktail party cooking class!
This culinary journey will unite elegant appetizers paired with delicious cocktails. The cocktail party’s origins are often linked to the Prohibition era in the United States. During this time, the sale of alcoholic beverages was banned, but clandestine social gatherings and speakeasies thrived. This period saw a rise in the popularity of cocktails as people experimented with creative ways to mask the flavor of bootlegged spirits. The cocktail party emerged as a way to enjoy these beverages in a social setting. The focus broadened beyond traditional cocktails to include a wider range of mixed drinks and creative concoctions. These decades also saw the emergence of elaborate hors d’oeuvres. The cocktail party has had a significant impact on social culture, symbolizing sophistication and social status. It has been featured prominently in literature, film, and television, often representing the height of socializing and style.
We will start with a pairing of Prosciutto Crostini topped with pomegranate seeds and microgreens served with a Pomegranate Gin Fizz that brings a balance of botanical gin, tart pomegranate juice, and refreshing lemon, finished with a fizzy lift from the club soda. The sweetness and acidity in the cocktail complement the salty prosciutto while enhancing the pomegranate’s fruity notes in the crostini.
Our next appetizer will be Truffle and Parmesan Stuffed Mushrooms which are an elevated take on the classic appetizer, combining rich and luxurious ingredients for a sophisticated flavor profile. It is the ideal for elegant dinner parties or holiday gatherings. We will pair this with a Lemon Basil Vodka Smash. It is a light and herbaceous cocktail that combines the smoothness of vodka with the bright tang of lemon and the aromatic freshness of basil. The hint of sweetness from simple syrup balances the flavors, while a splash of club soda adds effervescence, making it crisp and refreshing. This cocktail pairs beautifully with the earthy richness of the stuffed mushrooms, enhancing their flavor while keeping the palate fresh between bites. The basil’s herbal notes also complement the truffle essence in the dish.
Our third appetizer is a Mini Beef Wellington Bites and are a sophisticated, bite-sized version of the classic Beef Wellington, offering all the luxury of the traditional dish in a smaller, more elegant form. These bite-sized delights are perfect for serving at upscale gatherings, providing an indulgent, gourmet experience in a convenient, single bite. The Manhattan is an excellent choice to pair with the Wellington bite because of its rich, smooth flavors enhance the savory, buttery richness of the dish without overwhelming it.
