Tumbleweed Music Festival

Now in its 27th year, the Tumbleweed Music Festival is an annual, free, family-friendly celebration of acoustic folk music, crafts, and culture in Richland.

Presented by the Three Rivers Folklife Society (3RFS), the annual three-day folk festival — one of Tri-Cities’ longstanding annual eventsreturns to Richland on the first weekend of September, featuring over 100 free performances by local musicians and other performers from across the Pacific Northwest. Hosted along the banks of the Columbia River on Labor Day Weekend, folk fans of all ages are invited to celebrate the end of summer as they sing and dance along to sea chanteys, bluegrass, blues, Celtic music and other spirited acoustic performances.

A crowd sits in a shaded filed along the banks of the river listening to the sounds of the Tumbleweed Music Festival.

The theme of this year’s Tumbleweed Music Festival is “Good Times!” which will certainly be had as performances ring out at Howard Amon Park, where the event has been hosted since 1997. Each year, the festival brings upwards of 4,000 music fans to the park for three peaceful days of song, dance and celebration.

Music enthusiasts young and old can take to the stage themselves at one of several interactive experiences available throughout the weekend, including an open mic stage, singalongs, free workshops and music lessons. When not singing or dancing, shop for art, clothing and other goods created by local artisans at pop-up tents, enjoy a meal from one of several local food vendors, or just sit and relax at the riverside as music flows through the late summer air.
