Overview
Murray Thorson and Dr. Kristy Henscheid will present “The Star of Bethlehem” at the Columbia Basin College CPCCo Planetarium at 5:30 PM on Fri, Dec. 19; 6:00 PM on Sat, Dec. 20; 6:00 PM on Sunday, Dec. 21; and 6:00 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 23. Each is a 60-minute presentation using the planetarium dome to display the historical star events that caused the Wise Men to know Jesus was born and search for and find Him. Each is open to the public and free. Seating is limited and available on a first-come basis starting 30 minutes before show time. Signed copies of Murray’s five books on the topic will be available in limited quantities.
Five symbolic and rare astronomy alignments occurred concurrently with (1) Gabriel’s announcement to Mary that she would carry the Messiah, (2) Mary’s conception, (3) Mary’s pregnancy, (4) Jesus’ birth, and (5) Jesus’ 40-day-old presentation to the Lord. Two more occurred in the predawn morning when the Magi traveled from Bethlehem to Jerusalem, and one more as Herod’s soldiers killed all the boys two years old and younger in Bethlehem and its vicinity. Of these eight signs, we’ll skip the astronomy that coincides with Gabriel’s announcement to Mary and show the next seven.
