Celebrating Dia de los Muertos in Tri-Cities
When the clock strikes midnight on November 1, it is the end of Halloween and the beginning of Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead.
A 3,000-year-old Mexican holiday originating to the Aztecs, Dia de los Muertos takes place each year from November 1 to November 2. The Day of the Dead is a joyful celebration when families and friends remember and welcome back the souls of their loved ones who have passed. The tradition includes vibrant flower-filled and candle-lit altars with offerings that our loved ones might miss in the afterlife, including favorite foods or treasured items.
Celebrate Dia de los Muertos in the Tri-Cities with food, music, wine, costume contests, or a even brisk jog!
The Mid-Columbia Symphony is celebrating Dia de los Muertos with a concert on October 29 at the Richland High Auditorium. Enjoy classical music compositions filled with mystery and celebratory movements by Mexican composers. Costumes are encouraged!
What better way to honor your health and well-being than with a fun run in remembrance of a loved one? Don a flower crown and walk, run or jog throughout Downtown Pasco for the Dia de los Muertos Fun Run on October 29 to the music of a mariachi band.
If celebration means food, drink and dancing, then head to Monarcha Winery at Columbia Gardens Urban Wine & Artisan Village for the Tamales & Treats Dia de los Muertos Party on October 29. Costumes are encouraged and may be rewarded.
Martinez & Martinez Winery at Vintner’s Village in Prosser welcomes the public to visit their Dia de los Muertos altar and enjoy their wine, November 2-7.
