Visitor Services Specialist

As the Visitor Services Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of welcoming travelers to the Tri-Cities—one of the Northwest’s most exciting and unexpected destinations! Summary

In this part-time role, the Visitor Services Specialist serves as a concierge and customer service representative, greeting and assisting visitors, answering questions, addressing phone, email and website inquiries, and ensuring each guest feels inspired to discover both what the destination has to offer and what’s inside themselves.

Beyond in-person interactions, you’ll work with visitor platforms on VisitTri-Cities.com, update the community calendar of events, maintain inventory of merchandise and brochures in the visitor center and remote visitor kiosks, and actively engage in recruiting and retaining community partners and sponsors.

Hours: This is a part-time role (expected ~20 hours/week). Regular schedule will typically include in-office work Tuesday–Thursday. Some evening, weekend, Monday or Friday hours may be required.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Staff the Tri-Cities Visitor Center and assist with daily operations including upkeep, maintenance, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventory of brochures and merchandise.
  • Greet and provide service to clients and visitors in-person and answer/route incoming telephone calls.
  • Create dialogue and connect visitors with the region’s assets based on their interests.
  • Share information on area attractions, hotels, transportation, restaurants, and assist with itinerary planning to positively influence visitor stays and spending.
  • Manage inventory and monitor quality and connectivity of remote visitor kiosks; visit kiosks regularly.
  • Handle all inquiries (email, phone, walk-in), manage related platforms, fulfill requests, and track engagement.
  • Manage and direct the “Hot Dates” program to provide service to individual travelers and displaced guests; provide reports to the Director of Convention Sales.
  • Monitor the VisitTri-Cities.com online reservation programs for individual travel and assist with the community events page.
  • Support recruitment and retention of community partners and sponsors; track related revenues.
  • Update and maintain member information in the customer relationship management (CRM) system.
  • Support group services with pre- and post-convention reporting and guest room pick-up numbers.
  • Perform general clerical activities as needed, including bulk mailings and shipping.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Adept at relationship building, relationship management, and customer service; comfortable working with the public in a positive, optimistic manner.
  • Familiarity with Tri-Cities tourism assets, resources and literature.
  • Professional and friendly phone and email etiquette.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and strong people skills.
  • Tech-savvy ingenuity and good organizational skills; detail-oriented.
  • Experience using a CRM, standard office equipment, and a multi-line phone system.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and adaptable to new platforms including website CMS.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license and a proven, safe driving history.
