Overview
The Praxis Forum on May 8th features experts in science, religion, and philosophy answering an essential human question: "What does it mean to be in the present moment and how do I do it?"
In the science category, we have Dr. Chris Murray, the local founder of Insight Meditation of the Mid-Columbia. He has a PhD in Earth Sciences and has been practicing meditation for 50 years and teaching it for 20. He will talk about the process of mindfulness meditation and how it measurably affects the body and mind.
In the religion category, we have Dr. Gail Johnsen, who has 43 years of pastoral experience. She published a book called "All There" about how attentiveness informs leadership. She will speak to the relationship between attentiveness, love, and spirituality.
In the philosophy category, we have Dr. Eric Cunningham, a history professor who teaches at Gonzaga and has published books on hermeticism, zen, western esotericism, and more. He will speculate about the nature of consciousness and how it relates to the present moment experience.
The event will feature live classical music between the talks and free water and tea will be offered in the lobby. Zander Adams from KNDU will emcee the evening.
