Discover Dominican Bachata beyond just the steps.
Join us for a 3-hour workshop exploring the roots, rhythm, footwork, connection, and musicality of Traditional/Dominican Bachata.
We’ll begin with a short journey through the roots and evolution of Bachata, from the Dominican Republic to its expansion around the world—then bring that history directly to the dance floor.
WHAT WE’LL EXPLORE
🇩🇴 Roots & Evolution — A brief look at Bachata’s history, music, instruments, and evolution.
🎵 Traditional Foundations & Flavor — Rhythm, weight transfer, natural body movement, and direction changes.
🤝 Connection — Hand connection, frame, pressure and resistance, and comfortable movement in open and closed positions.
👣 Footwork → Partnerwork — Take traditional footwork and learn how to naturally incorporate it into partner dancing.
💬 Call & Response + Musicality — Use rhythm, footwork, pauses, and musical changes to create a conversation with your partner.
🔥 Guided Practice — Put everything together through partner exercises, rotations, and social-dance practice.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Perfect for dancers looking to explore Traditional/Dominican Bachata, improve their connection and musicality, and add more creativity to their social dancing.
Some previous Bachata experience is recommended.
No partner required. We’ll rotate partners throughout portions of the workshop.
THE IDEA
Learn the roots. Feel the rhythm. Connect with your partner. Make it your own.
Don’t just learn the steps. Learn how to use them.
